Out with the Old, In with the New

I mean really. Aren’t you tired of brown? And pictures of desks? It’s time for a makeover. It’s time for fun. It’s high time for the real Mad Tea Party to begin. I asked Anita to please take a walk so that I can set things right around here. Once I get done with this post, I am going to change the template to something far more cheery than brown. Let’s bring in the color!

all that is blue does glitter

And we will also free ourselves of this persistent British anarchy over the English language and lose the ‘u’ between ‘o’ and ‘r’. Forever. We will do the needful, and at the same time we will also arrest the overt usage of the present continuous tense so that American English can continue to prevail as the language of Indian food blogs.

We will have pictures! Lots and lots of pictures. Fields do get boring after a while. But it is spring, after all; time for a new lease on life…for this blog.
dressed up for spring

So let’s do it!
Rock and Roll, anyone?

Um, get it? Let’s Rock & Roll?

A Mad Tea Party is where I will be blogging from now on. If you’re looking for her, she’s over there now. This is the last time I will clarify and re-clarify things. You really are going to need to be sharp from here on. And with that…

Let the Party Begin.

  1. wow!! you girls really !! awesome twosome…and imagine the things you will come up with!! good luck….!!

Thanks, Arundati! You are the sweetest!

  2. i love this new color..but nonetheless im in for a party here or there..wherever is the place you can count on me πŸ™‚ lets rock and roll!!

I knew I could count on you!

  3. You are distinctly mad! Both of you…I love it! πŸ˜€

Only one of us here, Pel. She’s over there, y’know! πŸ˜‰

  4. Gosh! I was confused. Its well into the wee hours and to relax my tired brain I randomly selected a blog to read for a few seconds (yes, yes, you bloggers are the welcome respite for poor me with my crazy work) and I really thought I had completely disoriented and curdled my brain to the point where I read Anita’s blog as Manisha’s. Imagine!! For a flash the question through my brain went: so what’s your name? Anita or Manisha?! I need to get some shuteye.
    Oh, interesting concept.

Not a concept but a reality. Shortlived but true. I am not Anita. And we only swapped blogs. We didn’t swap identities!

  5. OMG ..you guys are really crazy!..but this is possible by two only you two ppl…well lets get on then…will get how you can change things over here…hhshhshs

Ahhh! Watch me work my magic in one way or another! πŸ˜‰

  6. Good one, and the timing was great too! April fool banaya πŸ˜€

Hi Nandita! Welcome to the new A Mad Tea Party!

  7. yay… manisha u rock (not he rock u posted here;) and yayyyyyyy… anita let the mad tea party begin πŸ˜€

Why thanks, Sia! And you know where to find Anita. Over there.

  8. okay prank…after a very looooooooong and tiring day and night with a toddler to boot I fell for it. 4 hours of sleep later I realize it.

But this is still me. Not Anita. Our writing styles are very different! You need to get more hours of rest!

  9. happy april fool’s day to you. anita, kick that intruder with the ghastly blue stuff out.

I love you, too, Bee! I will tell Medha what you think of her beautiful glitter glue.

  10. haaaaaa….. too cool…. man…loving the mad party already…. yeah i can see color and glitter pics…. woohoo… where’s the music??? πŸ˜€

Dance music from the 80s and 90s! It’s playing!

  11. no way …this blog is nothing without anita…colo(u)rs may change but not the soul…
come back anita…its coz of u this party is so mad n rocking!!!

Sorry to disappoint you, Shilpi. 😦 The ‘u’s are gone. They left with Anita.

  12. April fool Gimmick ???

All that planning…all that hard work..gimmick?! Poor Anita had to learn how to post in Blogger. That was the most fun part!

  13. I love spring and change and APRIL, especially the first day.

See? It worked! You came out of hibernation! Wake up! It’s spring! And we had 2 inches of snow every day for the past two days to prove it, too!

  14. Ok…so it was fun while it lasted. Hope you guys had fun, too!

Don’t worry, Shilpi! This is still Anita’s blog! The soul is very much here.
    πŸ˜‰

  15. Identity theft!!

Ata dhilla aahe tumcha….saying this is the best possible way. πŸ™‚

Now that hurt! Theft is when something is stolen or taken away without the other person’s consent. And, we only swapped blogs! We didn’t switch identities! I am still me. And she is still her. πŸ˜€

I am going to freak out here a bit till she gets back. She’s going to revoke my privileges very soon!

  16. Aww don’t say that. Didn’t mean to hurt you…Deva shappat.

Kaan pakkad and do 100 utha-bashya (sit-ups) then I will believe only.

  17. Oh duh…you totally got me with a double-whammy! I forgot what day it is, as I do every year (subconciously intentional forgetfulness so I can truly enjoy things like this?) Manish…come to think of it, you got me last year too when you said you were shutting down IFR!!! Ughhhhhh!!!!! :-O

I think that’s the mistake I made. Posting on April 1. We should have posted yesterday. It might have flown for a second longer. The only second, that is.

  18. Anisha and Manita. Nice try! I can imagine, how much fun you gals must have had planning this. I love to read your comments in both the blogs. That is where the party is.

Not much planning, really. A loose comment last year followed by months of silence as we both forgot! I don’t know how Anita remembered yesterday but she did. So we just flew into action, swapped blogs, wrote our posts and then waited over 12 hours for the clock to turn April 1 where I am. Big mistake, of course. As the date gave it all away. We’ll do better next time!

  19. You bought me out of hibernation too. Tumhi doghi na….total timepass muli aahaat πŸ™‚ Yay…. I am posting in Marathi on Anita’s blog.. take that Miss. Tea Party!
But it would be so much fun if you guys actually took this forward for a week.

    yes! Take that!

Pan, hyaala mhantath kaadi. (My transliterated Marathi is worse than my spoken Marathi so please no BMR jokes!) She trusts me but I don’t think she loves me that much! Who knows…you may have even planted a seed. Now who’s the real timepass mulgi?

  20. Ashwini: I follow Marathi my dear!
And now that you suggest, there’s a few things I could do at IFR… πŸ˜€ maybe we should conclude what we started!

    Few things like?! Yes?

  21. He he, all this REAL madness and nobody made a cup of tea πŸ˜€

TheCooker’s comment had me splits πŸ˜‰ Identity swap etc etc it is and i also see a gavar person out here! Total madness! Shiny glitter everywhere πŸ˜‰

Tea! Of course! I’m new at this, see? I think martinis and vodkas when someone says party. I have soooo much to learn! At least you appreciated the glitter! And I like that gavar, too!

  22. Happy April Fools day :)) The two of you just rock, I am trying to get myself out of the seemingly never ending sabbatical and have been doing some spring cleaning on my blog too. And do add some color before you leave Manisha πŸ™‚

Priya, don’t tell anyone but she didn’t give me admin rights. Unlike me. I gave her everything. Unequal sauda. Max that I can do is create new posts and sprinkle them with my colorful pics. πŸ˜‰

And, come back soon! I made your lemony rice noodles the other day. They are delicious!

  23. so why is anita’s name in the comments linking here and ghastly glitter’s name linking to IFR?

Hers is because she won’t give up her claim. And that is terrible alliteration on your part.

  24. oh, sorry, ghastly glitter is linking here alright. anita, you need to link to the heathen recipeless blog πŸ˜€

Bee, may you be blessed with two pairs of twins, two sets of boys and two sets of girls. And a set of triplets soon thereafter.

  25. Yay! That was fun. I read both your blogs Anita and Manisha and I got taken in until I read the comments. I second what someone said you guys should take this forward for at least a week. πŸ™‚

You mean I should really make it her blog are belong to me? Just like her comments are belong to me today?

  26. twins and triplets? j will say, “i don’t want them. kids create a lot of poo. who will clean it?” he will send them by fedex to louisville, colorado.

Seriously? I will take in all … [counts on fingers: 2 plus 2 plus 3 equals 7] yes, all 7 of them. You just carry them to term and give birth to them. We’ll drive up north and pick them up. How does next summer sound for the first instalment? πŸ˜€

  27. You know I’d follow you anywhere, Manisha! So, I now have to change my Google Rader and Bloglines. What a surprise! But what an interesting idea!

Not many people were taken in by it though!

  28. Come now, John. IFR will still be readable! You don’t need to change your Reader and all that, just add to it! [Such brand loyalty, I tell you!]

    I have a brand? I have a brand?! [thud] πŸ˜€

  29. You guys rock! I’m totally loving this April Fools madness πŸ™‚

But that blue goo … hmm, can you reconsider that? πŸ™‚

Thanks! And no the second part! There is more where that came from: red, silver, gold, yellow, green and a couple more!

  30. Manisha managed to get adopted! Yay! What fun you guys are having :D. Cheers for the cool gals!

Adopted? Dang! I don’t think she ever will now. Considering that I tried to take over here, you know! πŸ˜‰

  31. well, well, the comments and responses are definitely spicier..anita will be after me with a belan now.

The party is always in the comments. That’s where I live on this blog. Let it be noted that I took over the comments a long time ago and then a post on April 1. Jai Manisha. (Not like Jai as in Jai Bee. Although I do think that Bee named him that just so that everyone could say Jai Bee and have it bee all about her.)

  32. I would much rather use the English spelling. Also they say things differently than we do so their spellings do not suit us. You have a wonderful blog and I am happy to have come across it.

It’s a joke, Shivdeep! A joke! Welcome to the party! πŸ˜‰

  33. To be frank, you got me on this one! 😦 I am tagging you for a MeMe and wrote your blog as “Indian Food Rocks”..luckily I realized the prank before I posted it πŸ™‚ Feel free to participate in the MeMe, only if you want to.

  34. Hey Anita, that was qiwik πŸ™‚ Just got back from reading it. I guess I posted the comment here, just as you were bringing the post out of draft there :)Khandvi has been on my to-do list ever since I saw Nupur’s post on it. (My office blocked blogger :(( , so cannot post comments there )
